I saw an exhibit of Henry Darger's work at the Los Angeles County Museum twenty or so years ago. It emboldened my disposition to draw little girls—if Darger could, why not me? The exhibit also gave me hope that even if I never got much recognition in this life I might find posthumous fame as an overlooked curiosity. The original of this balloon picture was a magazine cover illustration that Darger used in several of his compositions.

A documentary movie about Darger and his work was recently released but I didn't think much of it.
