Design for a Sculpture of a Heavy Duty Torso. Pencil on paper. 10 ¼ by 7. 2003. From ... what? I'm not sure. I had recently done a picture I called "Sexy Reclining Nude" from a photo of "Olga" that I found on the cover of a German magazine. Olga inspired "Sexy ..." who, in turn, probably prompted "Design ...."
We, in the U.S. are too stuffy to put nudes on our magazine covers. Too stuffy in general. "Olga" had full hips and reminded me of an auto-shop calendar I once saw. A promotion for shock absorbers that pictured a sexy reclining nude with a big butt captioned: "Heavy where she has to take the strain." I didn't see the actual calendar but rather a reproduction of it in an endpaper column called "No Comment" in an early issue of MS Magazine.
The sculpture is yet, probably never, to be made.
